María José

Hi everybody!! How´s it going??
I´m fine but I miss our English classes. I have no time to study English now, so, in a short time, I can not understand you because I´m sure your level will improve a lot this year.
My daugther is already hapier in Irleland and she seems to be adapted a little better.
My father continues his treatment and he is more or less well.
How about you??I hope you are all ok.
Regards. XXXOOO. María José.

holidays!!!!

Hello, English friends!!!
Today I'm not working because I worked yesterday morning.
Last Friday I was at school's party and it was very good. The children were the most important and they were happy. Our English teacher danced two times with the children and it was fantastic. She was exhausted and very very happy. The biggest said good-bye to the school because they have to go to the Institut the next September. They received a present and a pen that contain a lot of photographs since they were 3 years old. Today they have gone to Granada for 3 days and after it they go to holidays with their families.
Are we going to go together to say good-bye our ideal teacher?
If it can't be possible I wish you a good holiday and we'll see the next September.
I have been very happy with all you during this year and I have learnt a lot of you and , of course, of our better English teacher.
Bye,bye.
Bye,bye.....

thursday the seventh of June

I think that we all have a lot on our plate, to be exact I all have a lot on my plate, but i´ll eat all the food.

Karen told us that in her chilhood she was a gymnastic woman who practised asymetric bar and float. She had a stomach like a bar of chocolate. Still she is very strong, her muscles are hard.

Today our new classmate John visited us and he look to Karen very much but he doesn´t speak much.

Pepe said him: It´s a great pleasure to be here with you althoug Pepe had a sore neck for your busy and stressed life. He didn´t look his usual self. What´s the matter? What´s wrong? We are asking to him. ¡It can´t be that bad!

Miss magic said that Mrs Tickling is absolutely imposible. He used to go around tickling people every now and then but now he is going around tickling people all the time.

Karen ordered the breakafst and Pepe invited us. Pepe invited to John to have brekafast but John answered: I´ve already had.

THE CORRECTIONS AGAIN (M Jose)

Hi everyone! How it´s going?

As I told you this morning, I wrote each correction in the corresponding text, because I thought it´s better for us if we have the original text nearer, but if someone doesn´t want to look for it, I also copy here.

The following correction corresponds to a text of April called María José rewrites Eliseo´s story.

I´m not going to write the full text because it´s so long, I´ll just write the setences that need correcting, ok?
1. From María José´s text:
Hi Everyone: I´m going to rewrite Eliseo´s text, with corrections Karen made. At least, I´ll try!...
Instead of "When he becomes rich and go out from the wardrobe", we say "When he becomes rich and COMES OUT of the wardrobe". And in the same paragraph, instead of "...to make a trip to Florence" we say "to TAKE a trip to..."
Next paragraph, the last sentence, I wrote "I hope Carmen ignore it" and I forgot the "S", so, it´s "I hope Carmen IGNORES it" (unforgivable mistake, sorry).
Next paragraph, about Miriam I wrote "...the change must be for blue not for redish" and the correct form is "Miriam should go for blue highlights not for reddish ones".
And finally, about Eliseo, instead of "Eliseo is a bit crazy but we appreciated him", we say "Eliseo is a bit mad but we still apreciate him, do we?".

2. Regarding the comment by Carmen:
Instead of "...To go to Scotland for a trip you could be our another teacher..." we say "to go ON a trip you could be our OTHER teacher..." and "if Miriam goes to SPA" would be "If Miriam goes to A spa".
And the last sentence "I think that Eliseo is a bit clampsy but he is improving her english and he wants we were interested in blog", would be "I feel that Eliseo is a bit clumbsy but he is imporving his English. He also wants us to be interested in the blog"

3. About Miriam´s comment, Karen has written:
I want to thank Marijo and congratulate her for her good English (I (Karen) gave her the corrections!!). I feel one has to accept your high level in English and try to be less jealous as it is damaging to one´s health. If he doesn´t change he will not come to the cinema with us nor to the SPA either.
Thanks to Carmen for being Carmen. She is as good that has an excuse for Eliseo. You are more than a woman, you are a Saint!
Thanks to Karen for consoling me.
You are all the best mates I could ever have. Bye.

Well, I think that´s all. I hope not to have many mistakes.

Now, these corrections corresponds to a text from Eliseo called The Exam!! (of April too).

The last paragraph, instead of "Finally I remember to all people that payday is today althought I don´t agree with Karen. I am thinking that Marijo an me are working as secretaries and we have to pay less money. Still Karen can invite us to GIN FIZZ " is "Finally, I REMIND EVERYONE that today is payday. However/Although, I don´t agree with Karen because I believe Marijo and I are working as secretaries and so have a right to pay less!! Karen could buy us a GINFIZZ instead!!

About Miriam´s comment, Karen said "Eliseo could be a conference/congress shorthand typist".

And regarding Carmen´s comment, Karen said "This is an effective way to remember what we learn at English class".

That´s all folks.

Hello English friends!!!!
Yesterday I read a magazine about the Royal English wedding.
It is interesting because it speak about the dress, the make up, the ornaments, the flowers, the invitations , the bridge's family ,the kiss but the most important is that it's a dream made reality.
The bridge was pretty and elegant and he was very smart. They are in love and they had married at Westminster Abbey in London.
A lot of Royal Houses went to the wedding and our queen and our princes too.
This has been an important acounment for Royal English House.

ANSWER TO CARMEN´S INVITATION

Hi Carmen:

Many thanks for your invitation but I´ve just seen it. I like very much your interest to explain the Fair of April in Seville althougt you works a lot but I think that you enjoy very much. I remember the preparations to go to Rocio (the little village of pilgrimage in Huelva) in my father´s house. The smart dress of the women were hanged around the house and the complements near them. My father and me rode the horses 2 or 3 months before the time of the pilgrimage and tested the dress (the little jacket, the short trousers, the marsellés jacket and the sajones). Also I remember one ornament hanged in the trousers (its name is "caireles").

See you tomorrow mates.

Feria of April.

Hey English friends, I'm a bit sad because nobody read my text about the Easter so I've decided to write another about " Feria of April". I would like to know which is your opinion if it's possible.

I like very much the Feria of April of Seville. I think that it's an important event in our city. It's seen around the world by a lot of television channels so we must to give a good print.
It's an important economic event because a lot of workers working these days even before the begining of the Feria.

It's a traditional to wear typical dress. The women wear a fantastic flamenco dress with beautiful accesories as earrings, bracelets, necklaces and flowers of different colors.
The men wear another typical suit but only if you're going to ride a horse. The men wear special trousers with a white shirt and an special jacket. Also they wear a typical hat.

We can enjoy visiting our friends in other "casetas",dancing "sevillanas" ( that is the typical dancing of Seville),singing ,eating and drinking "rebujito"(not remojito) or white wine.
The children enjoy a lot because they play with their friends in the "caseta", they look the horses and they like a lot the attractions.
The Feria of April of Seville starts on Monday evening with the lighting and finish the following Sunday with the fireworks.

If you are going to visit the Feria you can go to my "caseta" that is situated at Costillares street named GEMAS or you can phone me (617139010). If I see you we can drink something and eat together.

I hope you enjoy a lot at Feria.

Bye,bye......

Easter week

Hello english friends!!!

I'm happy because the Easter week is next, the next Sunday until the following Sunday.
These are very fantastic days in Seville. I hope the weather was good, without hot and without rain.
It's fantastic because you can see a lot of art in the streets without you need to go to museum.
The streets are clean and there are some windows that put red flags on it.
It's very excitant to see how the "pasos" walk along the streets and how they turn the corners.
I think it's art.
The smell is very singular because it's a mix of flowers and incense.
The people are dressed very well, smart. The men generally are with suit jackets and ties. The women are with elegants dress and the children are dressed with formal dress .
It's tradition that everybody wear some new clothes and sometimes it's a problem because if your shoes are new they can hurt you.

Normally the family go together to see the "pasos" and they enjoy all the day.

The mothers are an important person in this time because they prepare everything at home. They iron the clothes, cook "torrijas" and another typical food and they are awabe of everything . If your child is a " nazareno" you have more work because you have to prepare the typical clothes ,buy the candies and go all the time with him because he can need water, food, more candies or maybe he can be tired.

So, I like it very much also I have more work than another person but I think that my child is the most "nazareno" in the world.

THE EXAM ¡¡¡¡¡¡

THE EXAM ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

EXAM

Remember don´t worry be happy. This is to help not to intimidate OK?

1. What day is it today?

Today is Wednesday the sixth of April of two thousand and eleven.

2. What´s the weather like?

The weather is overcast and a bit windy like meteorologist Miriam says. There is a charged atmosphere because a sandstorm comes from african dessert. Perhaps it is going to rain although the sun is coming out. Yesterday it was going to rain but it didn´t.

3. How are you feeling?

I am feeling more or less, today I am angry with me I have a lot of economic problems. I am very tired like Carmen but she has more worked than me. I have to be awake and not asleep.

4. How are you like in your family?

I am like my oldest brother but he has got much more hair than me. He is very nice but not too nice like me. Let me to say that my daughter Lucia looks my mother, wich was very beautiful.

5. Can you dance?

I can dance anywhere and anytime. I was living in Brazil for two years and there I was dancing Spanish music, specifically gypsy dance because I delivered a gypsy music tape of my father in “La casa de España en Porto Alegre”. He was a compositer. Then they asked me if I can dance Spanish music and I said yes, but as consideration I want to eat every day in this restaurant.

6. Have you ever been to see The Jerez dancing horses?

No, I haven´t but I would like to see it anytime. In my childhood I was riding a horse and I trained to go to the Rocio pilgrimage. It´s true no lie.

7. Why are you learning English?

I am learning English because I want to communicate to other people when I travel around the world and I think is necessary to improve knowledge in several areas. In the science and the culture world the predominant language is the English. And specially because I enjoy a lot with my class mates and my ideal teacher every Wednesday and Friday.

8. Why is visiting Andalusia so popular?

Because Andalusia has got a lot of tapas bars and wine bars which are fantastic. There are historic cities to enjoy architecture, culture, food, traditions and climate. There are different styles buildings and museums.

9. What does this particular holiday entail/include?

The price includes twin accommodation with breakfast, lunch or dinner every day except Wednesday and Sunday, scheduled flights return, and all coach transfers in Spain, welcome drink and two tutored tastings: guided tours of Seville and Cordoba. Also entry to the horses showing and sherry bodega in Jerez. Not included are wine with meals, insurance and a single personal supplement.

10 Which days are specially busy and why?

The specially days are: Thursday: we are driving to Jerez, the home of sherry, to visit a city´s food-market and after we´ll go into in the Royal Spanish Equestrian School to see the performancing horses. We´ll have a lunch to taste the seafood in Sanlucar de Barrameda, at the well-known restaurant Bigote To finish we´ll visit the González Byass bodega to known how they made wine.

12. What is additional to the price of the holiday?

The additional includes the wine with the meals and lunch and dinner on Wednesday and Sunday.

13. Why do you have to book soon?

Because is more cheap more secure and avoid disappointment.

14. What else would you recommend to these tourists to do in Seville?

I would recommend walk around historic center, visit the most complete example of muslim architecture in Europe (Los Reales Alcázares), the museum of painting, the cathedral of Seville and the river.

Finally I remember to all people that payday is today althought I don´t agree with Karen. I am thinking that Marijo an me are working as secretaries and we have to pay less money. Still Karen can invite us to GIN FIZZ not GIN and tape water.

That´s all folks.

We´ll see in the news of the british broadcasting corporation

Mariajosé rewrites Eliseo´s story

Hi Everybody!!
Karen told me if I could write again Eliseo´s text with the corrections she made, so I´m going to trying it:

I was angry because Karen and Marijo went to the cinema and they didn´t let me know. I really wanted to watch a subtitled film but I didn´t, so I´m really disappointed. Eliseo pulled a long face when he knnew that those wonderful women had gone to the cinema without him.

It doesn´t matter, I´ve seen the film "The child in the striped pyjamas" several times. I´d rather go to the cinema. I also prefer to go on my own because the girls are great chatterboxes!! Although I´ll no doubt go altogether soon.
Marijo had not heard about the film "The King´s speech", me neither. They thought Eliseo is very clumsy and he could spoil their secret plan.

Last Wednesday, Marijo was in the corner although the Bar is on the corner. I could hear her with my own ears. The way she speaks English sets my hair on edge. (Is it really so horrible?). She has a very cool head.

Today, the eighteenth March, Pepe was extra late as he always has affairs to deal with and sort out. He even turned a deaf ear when spoke about the breakfast fine. Even though it seems unreal, he is improving in his English amazingly!! He is always thinking about business. He´d like to sign an exclusive contract with "Pablo de Olavide University". When he becomes rich and go out from "ropero", he´ll be more generous and will travel all over the world. He might even invite us to make a trip to Florence, the most elegant city in the world. Don´t we wish?

As for Carmen, she is the busy nurse, she is always answering calls and saving lives, she lives in a happy world. She gets a pat on the back from everyone for doing such a good job!! She likes to give a helping hand to the poorly people. Purple suits her down to the ground and I suggest she makes a purple gypsy dress with a little bag around the leg. (I hope Carmen ignore it)

And now Miriam, well, she is always changing her look. She was an unruly girl, but now, she is a very sensible person (more o less, this is what I think he meant). I tell her: Relax! Let your hair down for a change!. I think the change must be for blue not for redish. She certainly brings a breath of fresh air to a stuffy atmosphere!! In the long run, she´ll live in a SPA full of Bach´s flowers. (May I go with her??)

Last Wednesday our teacher was having an argument with another mother, heatedly discussing some sort of matter with her. Two of a kind she very quiet and relaxed versus Karen with boiling blood running through her Scottish veins. (This part is very hard to understand for me). I don´t agree with you. That can´t be true! You´re pulling my leg...You always criticize me behind my back.
In the Bar, Pepe and Marijo were very angry. Marijo had many things to do and Pepe was losing a lot of business (because he´s learning English for his business). Miriam was relaxed thinking about her new look.
Hence, this Friday, Karen was very sorry and wanted to invite us to a complete English breakfast, not. We had to make do with toast and tomatoes which is better anyway. So, Karen said: It´s my shout. Even though it doesn´t seem real I´m innocent and I´m going to buy a ticket to Scotland in low season.

Definitely, Eliseo is a bit crazy, he´s like a goat (We would say), but we appreciated him.

Finaly, I´ve finished. I´m exhausted!!

See you all on Wednesday. Have a great weekend!.

sábado, 26 de marzo de 2011

Hi Carmen!!
I know you are out for the weekend now. I hope you are having a great time.
I only wanted to tell you I wish that the letter from the hospital was good news. I didn´t want to call you on Friday because I knew you were very busy working and making your "ensaladilla", but I thought about that.
Well, I´ll see you on Wednesday.

miércoles, 23 de marzo de 2011

I think the kind learnig inglish the same Eliseo although I don!t like hamburguer.

jajajajajajajajajaja.

viernes, 18 de marzo de 2011

Where are the chips?

I think that maybe this is a good kind of learning english for Pepe and Eliseo, don't you?

BREAKFAST WITH KAREN STORIES

EIGTHTEENTH OF MARCH STORY

I was angry with Karen because she and Marijo were to the cinema together and they didn´t let me known it. I wanted to watch a subtitle film  and I couldn´t and I felt disapointed. Eliseo pulled a long face when he knew that the bad women went to the cinema without him.
It doesn´t matter I watched “Monna Lisa” and “The child on a striped pyjama” four o five times. Although I prefer go to the cinema alone because they are chatterboxes.
Marijo hadn´t heard about the film “the king´s speech”, me neither.  They thought Eliseo is very clumsy and he could spoil their secret plan with …….

Last Wednesday, Marijo was in the corner althougt the Bar is on the corner. I could hear her with my ears. The way she speaks English sets my hair on edge. She has a very cool head.

Today, Pepe was on late, he is a typical andalusian man, he turned a deaf ear when we speak about the breakfast ticket. He is improving a lot your English although he is always thinking about your business (all maters include a business). He would like to sign an exclusive business contract with “Pablo de Olavide University”. When he got to be a rich man he´ll go out from “ROPERO” and he will be more generous and then he´ll be the smartest man in the world an he travels and travels, NOT A TRAVEL, around the world. He will invite us make a trip to FLORENCE the most elegance town in the world.

Carmen is the busy nurse, she is always answering calls and saving lives. She lives in a happy world. She get a pat on the back to every people for doing such a good job. She wants to give a hand to poor person. Purple suits her down to the ground and I suggest she make a purple gypsy dress with a little bag around the leg.

Miriam is always changing your look. She needs looks unruly girl but nowadays isn´t easy. She is an alternative woman who got the common sense. I tell her: relax¡ Let your hair down for a change. I think the change will be for blue not for reddish. She will bring a break of fresh air and will relieve the stuffy ambient. In the long run she will live in a SPA full of bach flowers.

Last Wednesday (I apologise for not being able to come) Karen was talking to Alessandro,s mother (Elena), she was discussing her. Karen was saying: I can´t understand this, It´s above my head. You are very quite and relax and I am an impulsive woman with Scottish blood.

I don´t agree you. That can´t be true! You are pulling my leg …. Elena. You always criticise me behind my back.

In the bar Marijo and Pepe were very angry. Marijo had many things to do and Pepe was losing a lot of business (because he is learning English for your business). Miriam was very relaxed thinking about your new look.

This Friday Karen was sorry with his action and wanted amend it and said:  It´s my shout. I want you to invite to complete breakfast because eventhough it doesn´t seen real I am innocent and I am going to buy a ticket to Scotland in the low season (is more cheap).

Bye, Bye

BODY IDIOMS

You have a free hand. You can buy anything.

The way he sings opera sets my hair on edge.

The sight of those ghostly figures made his blood ran cold.

I have a bone to pick with you . Where´s that you book promised?

She has a very cool head. So she didn´t panic.

He made a clean

The way they treated the animals made my blood boil.

The soldiers were armed to the teeth.

She got a pat on the back for doing such a good job.

He turned a deaf ear to my request for more money.

They always criticise her behind her back.

I can´t understand this. It´s way above my head.

I want you to learn these words by heart before the next lesson.

That´s just what i was going to say. You took the words right out of my mouth.

Relax. Let your hair down for a change.

Could you give me a hand with this ladder?

I¨ll keep an eye on your cat while you´re away.

That can´t be true. You are pulling my leg.

You´ve really put your foot in this time! Whatever made you say such a thing.

We were all shocked but she didn´t turn a head

He was too frightened to say it to her face.

We could wait for the next bus. On the other hand we could walk.

She pulled a long face when we told her our plans.

You know what a sweet tooth he´s got so don´t leave that box of chocolates lying around.

LITTLE MISS BIRTHDAY (TODAY IS MY REAL BIRTHDAY)

Little Miss Birthday enjoys every day because every day is someone´s birthday (like today is the mine) and Little Miss Birthday loves birthday presents! She loves choosing presents, she loves wrapping presents, and she loves giving presents,

And she is very good at choosing presents. Little Miss Birthday prides herself on always picking the perfect present.

However fussy the person might be.

She gave Little Miss Star a radio wich gives her a round of applause every time she turns it on.

And she gaves Mr Bump a bed with no legs. No more going bump in the night for Mr Bump when he falls out of bed.

GRAPES AT THE STROKE OF NEW YEAR´S EVE

The tradition of taking the twelve grapes dates back only to the beginning of our century. The implementation of this custom, which, incidentally, is unique to our country, not because of religion or culture, but rather to mere economic interests. On New Year's Eve 1909, the growers, in a desperate effort of imagination, they got rid of surplus grapes in the year inventing the ritual of taking the grapes of luck on the last night of the year
